Mama-to-be Care Pack Soothe, Support, Restore
Medica’s new range of postpartum support products have been designed to empower new mothers in assisting their bodies’ healing processes.
The postpartum period is a precious time for cocooning your little one with love.
Through this package, we encourage new mothers to show themselves the same level of care, so they are better able to cherish this special stage of life.
This package includes:
Lip Balm Containing a buttery blend of lanolin, sunflower and jojoba oils, this hydrating lip balm is a necessity for your hospital bag and while breastfeeding (anyone feel parched while breastfeeding?)
Peri Gel The Peri Gel with witch hazel and aloe vera gel can be used to make padsicles to use after labour to soothe and promote perineal healing after labour.
Witch hazel is a gentle astringent which naturally tightens the skin and the Aloe gel which contains mostly water but has glucomannans, amino acids, lipids, sterols and vitamins moisturises and repairs skin.
Nipple Balm This blend of Lanolin, Jojoba and Sunflower oil provides a barrier to chaffed skin while allowing the skin to absorb the essential acids available in the oils to help repair the skin function. This is one of the best balms to use it melts into your skin and soothes sore skin instantly. Pre-baby, this soothes areas of chaffing if you have any.
Postpartum Healing Soak This soothing bath-time blend has been formulated with Epsom Salts infused with Manuka Essential Oil and Roman Chamomile to relieve the pressure of sore muscles before and after pregnancy. Another name for Epsom Salts is Magnesium Sulphate and as most of you know, Magnesium is excellent for soothing sore muscles and relaxing the body. PERFECT for those sore swollen legs in the third trimester!
Labour Candle This fragrant soy candle is infused with clary sage for increased oxytocin to promote labour. Oxytocin is a naturally occurring hormone in our body which helps us bond and nurture others. During labour oxytocin produces contractions which help open and thin the cervix, help move the baby through the birth canal, push out the placenta and limit bleeding. Low levels of Oxytocin result in *slowing down labour *excessive bleeding after the afterbirth. Ways to protect the natural increase in oxytocin include *labouring in a dark room *having one support person *minimising interventions (this looks different for different people - talk to your midwife) *staying upright and using gravity to birth baby *Inhaling Clary Sage, this has been shown to increase oxytocin in saliva in clinical settings - Which is why I've added it to a long burning candle.
